Anne Marie, (the Owner)
Anne Marie has been an avid thrift store and resale shopper most of her life. Vintage clothing was her passion throughout high school and college, and the precursor in deciding to pursue a career in fashion. After graduating from Parsons School of Design in New York, and working for several designers, family life caused Anne Marie to switch gears and focus her attention on her kids. By the time her youngest daughter Olivia was 5 and in school full time, Anne Marie was ready to get back to work in full swing. Walking with her family along MLK Jr. Way (Old Grove Street) one Sunday, she spotted the vacant space that was the shop's original location and thought "that would be a great spot for a business." Born and raised in Berkeley, Anne Marie decided to call the store GROVE STREET kids after the original street name as an homage to her own childhood.
Now in it's 10th year iof business, GROVE STREET kids has won many accolades as well as experienced many challenges, including Anne Marie's diagnosis with Breast Cancer at the end of 2013. But she is a fighter and throughout her treatment, and with the support of her friends, family and especially her co-workers, Anne Marie still comes to work most days to do what she loves best: reuse, recycle and restyle!
